The Edge in College Prep

Our Story

Jessica Brondo, CEO of The Edge in College Prep The Edge in College Prep was founded in New York in 2005 by Jessica Brondo, just a year after she graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, from which she garnered the hallowed Susan M. Huffman Senior Thesis Prize.  She was also honored with the Women with Wings Award, bestowed upon the 25 most influential women at Princeton.

If you asked Jess in high school whether she ever wanted to see the SAT again while she was prepping for it, her answer would have unequivocally been NO! However, after getting a perfect score on the exam, she decided to utilize her newfound skills to tutor other high school students for the test. While at Princeton, she tutored extensively for the SAT, and fell in love with teaching. She was addicted to eliminating the barrier that the SAT puts up for many students, and so accepted a Site Director position at a well-known SAT preparation company based in New York after graduating. She worked there for over a year and coordinated three of the largest courses in New York with nearly 500 students altogether, but she wanted to create a more honest, efficient approach for score improvement.

After leaving that company, she embarked on a 6-month adventure of creating The SAT/ACT Edge, the most comprehensive, user-friendly test prep guide out there. She was The Edge’s sole tutor for just 4 months at which point she began expanding her team in New York. In 2008, The Edge launched its second office in London and coordinated an SAT prep course for the prestigious American School in London. The Edge will be celebrating its 7-year anniversary in December 2012, and is now operating in 5 international locations, including the New York Tri-State area, London, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and South Florida.

The Edge in College Prep recently launched its revolutionary online course for the SAT/ACT Edge as well as its accompanying iPhone app, and is excited to announce that it will be donating subscriptions to the course to all Title 1 schools and any student qualifying for the Reduced Lunch program. The company will also be donating a percentage of the sales to DonorsChoose and Pencils of Promise.
