SAT Fast Facts
- Offered 7 times a year (October, November, December, January, March, May and June)
- Duration: 3 hours and 45 minutes
- Topics tested: Reading, Math, and Writing
- Maximum score: 2400 (3 sections with max score of 800)
- Negative marking test (aka you LOSE points for wrong answers and GAIN points for correct answers)
PSAT Fast Facts
- Given in October of Junior year
- Sophomores can opt to take it as well
- Does NOT count! Colleges will never receive results
- If you perform extremely well, you could qualify for a National Merit Scholarship
- Topics covered: Reading, Math, Writing
- Maximum score: 240 (3 sections with max scores of 80)
ACT Fast Facts:
- Offered 6 times a year (September, October, December, February (not in New York or internationally), April, and June).
- Topics tested: English, Math, Reading, Science, optional Essay
- Maximum score: 36 (each section has max score of 36 and the overall score is compiled by averaging the 4 sections)
- Students are not penalized for wrong questions
SAT Subject Test Fast Facts:
- 1-hour exams given 6 times a year (October, November, December, January, May, June)
- Maximum score: 800
- Students can take up to 3 Subject Tests at each test date
- Not required by all schools
