Marisa Apostolidis (Buenos Aires) grew up in the Philadelphia area. She completed her AB in Anthropology at Princeton University and leter went on to do her Master’s in Social work at the Smith School for Social Work. She has extensive experience in mental health, social services, and education in New York, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Athens, Madrid, and now Buenos Aires. She has been preparing students to take the SAT and ACT ever since she was a student at Princeton. |
Aaron Berman (New York) graduated Magna Cum Laude from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in political theory, philosophy, and art theory. He founded and teaches at an experimental art program for children aged 7-12 in NYC’s Chinatown called Upstairs at 83 Hester. Aaron is passionate about education and delighted to be in a position to help students get into the schools of their dreams. In his free time he reads, writes, and tries to take as much advantage as possible of New York’s cultural offerings. |
John Calhoun (New York/Online) is a Marshall Scholar currently completing a M.Sc. in economic and social history at Oriel College, Oxford. Prior to coming to England, he served as a Fulbright Scholar in Taiwan studying education policy, and earned a B.A. in philosophy, summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond (Virginia) and a M.A. in education policy from the University of York (UK). He’s a New York City native with over ten years of teaching and tutoring experience. As director of an after school program in the south Bronx, he helped his students attain some of the largest standardized test score gains out of any after school program in the U.S. |
Michelle Cronin (New York/Online) is a proud graduate of Harvard University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Visual and Environmental Studies Department’s film studies track and minored in French and psychology. At Harvard, she wrote for campus publications including The Harvard Crimson and Cinematic, served as a peer counselor, and participated in numerous student productions. Deborah Cull (South Florida/Online) grew up in Naples, Florida, where she lives with her wonderful husband, Matt, and her neurotic Miniature Australian Shepherd, Petey. Upon high school graduation, she moved to New Jersey to attend Princeton University.She received her BSE in Civil Engineering, with a certificate in Architecture and Engineering.After six years of braving the northeast snow, she moved back to Florida to work as a Civil Engineer.She successfully passed the Principles and Practice Exam in October 2010 and received her Professional Engineering license. Susan Edwards (London/Online) is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Neuroscience from Princeton University, and her Master’s of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University, where she also worked for several years. Susan was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland. She tutors all sections of the SAT-I, as well as the Math, Biology, French and German subject tests. In her free time, you can find her playing the piano – and occasionally the drums when she can get her hands on a set! – or catching a dance show at Sadler’s Wells. Douglas Groene (New York/Online) is an attorney who obtained his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University. Alec Gunny (Silicon Valley/Online) is a Los Angeles native with years of mentoring/test prep experience who, through being fortunate enough to have a very talented SAT tutor, now studies Engineering Physics at UC Berkeley. He is an active member of Engineers Without Borders, where he works with other students to develop a method to soften water and filter arsenic in wells in Peru, and a director of a local volunteer mentorship project. Whenever he has some, he enjoys spending his free time playing just about any sport, from basketball and volleyball to tennis and surfing, and playing guitar and piano. |
Tomi Herceg (London/Online) is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. He received his Bachelor’s degree in the same subject area from Princeton University in 2009. Tomi was born and raised in Romania, but completed his secondary and university schooling in the US. Neze Igboechi (New York/Online) was born in the UK and has many years of tutoring experience since 2001in Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, SATs, and USLMEs. She studied International Relations at Brown University, Graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S in Pre-Medicine and International Relations. She attended Rush Medical University in Chicago where her passion for International Medicine bloomed. After graduating in 2009, she started a company to raise funds for medical Missions. The first team of medical students and doctors is set to leave for a rural clinic in Liberia in 2011. She intends to start residency next June in either Neurology or Surgery as well continue to grow her company as it reaches out in the development of healthcare in underserved regions abroad. Jenny Marlowe (Admissions Counseling) has recently relocated to Los Angeles after three years in the UK, where she was Director of Programming for The Edge’s London office. Jenny graduated from Princeton University in 2004 with a degree in English and a Certificate in Theatre & Dance. She then spent a year in LA as the James S. Copley Foundation Fellow in Print Journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication before moving to London, where she earned a Master’s degree in Text & Performance Studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Jenny is fluent in French and reads Latin, classical Greek, and Old English. She is an intrepid world traveler and an avid essayist and photographer, and has had her work published in such media as Califerne magazine and CNN.com. When she is not teaching, writing, or taking pictures, she enjoys acting, long-distance running, and experimenting with gluten-free cuisine. |
Dylan Rebois (London/Online) received his BS in mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, and studies sustainable engineering at Imperial College in London as a Marshall Scholar. As an undergraduate, Dylan helped to teach several classes on engineering design and global development and traveled abroad to implement rural community development projects in Burkina Faso and Ethiopia. |
Cyril Rosal (New York) received his BS in Finance from NYU in 2010 and received his MS in Accounting from the same schol in 2011. He was born and raised in the Philippines, but spent his high school years in California, and his college years in New York. Cyril has some experience when it come to tutoring, serving as a tutor in high school, and being a professor’s assistant in college. Caitlin Simard (Rio de Janeiro/Online)graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese Studies from Georgetown University in 2011. On the Hilltop a English as a Second Language program for immigrants in D.C. ignited her passion for education and teaching. She decided to live out her major and academic studies by moving to Rio de Janeiro. During Caitlin’s downtime shetakes advantage of Rio’s natural beauty in outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, and reading a good book on the beach. Caitlin is also involved and interested in social development and environmental programs in Rio. Jonathan Warsh (London/Online) is a Marshall Scholar currently completing an M.Sc. in Health Policy, Planning, and financing in a joint program between the London School of Economics and Political Science and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Before coming to the UK, he earned a B.A. in government, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College. He has tutored students for the SAT, ACT, and in math, history, and English over the past 5 years, and has also counseled several students through the college application process.
